BLOU'S BOOK HAS ARRIVED!

Blou, the rescued border collie, has just published "Living the Good Life" through Bloudog Publishers.

"Liiving the Good Life" is a picture book highlighting the daily life of the area's best known dog.  The book is available at Cavallaro Paint and Decorating at 12 Kennedy St.in Bradford, PA. Proceeds from the sale of the book will be used by Code Blou to support Blou's causes.

Eight years ago, Blou was rescued as a stray.  He is the "spokesdog" for the Pet Emergency Fund and the mascot for the Letters from Home Program.  He has been animated to appear on the "Save the Sheep" episode of Wonder Pets on the Nickelodeon network, and his picture was featured on the front cover of the April issue of  Front and Finish, a national magazine for dog breeders and trainers.  His story is currently being considered by the producers of  "Dogs 101" on the Animal Planet Channel.

Several people expressed an interest at the Letter stuffing party on Nov 22, 2009 so I am letting you know;  in case anyone is interested.   It's a twenty two page book and sells for $11.00 before Christmas.   I have read it and it is awesome.  Your children and grandchildren would love it. It would make a great stocking stuffer!!!

You may  feel free to tell anyone that cares to contact Jay (Blou's owner) about getting a copy of the book. His my cell number which is good 24/7 is 716 378 1239. . With Pride, Christine Jovenitti, director of Letters from Home

Ms. Jovenitti,

I wanted to take a moment to thank you.  I received two boxes today with CDs and DVDs for our troops!  I can't tell you how excited

all of us are!  How nice it will be to have a choice to see something other than the movie that is pushed out on AFN!

Once again, I really appreciate it and the troops do, as well.

Sir, Ma’am,

I just wanted to thank your organization for brightening my day.  My name is Tom Winkler, I’m a Master Sergeant with the United States Air Force,

and I am currently deployed  to Kirkuk Air Base, Iraq.  Just about an hour ago, someone handed a coworker and I two care bags.  I don’t think I have

ever received one, so I thought it was a nice gesture.  After I opened the bag, I was shocked to see letters from two towns that were named Johnsonburg

and St. Marys.  After reading the letters in the bag I received, I immediately grabbed my coworkers bag to read his.  There were two letters written by

school children discussing life in rural Pennsylvania.  It really made my day because they brought back warm memories I once lived while attending

St. Mary’s Area High School.    I grew up in Force, Pennsylvania and graduated St. Mary’s Area High School in 1987.  It’s something that I was able

to find a little bit of home 8,000 miles away from where I grew up.

Thank you,

Thomas Winkler, MSgt, USAF

Many people are surprised to find that it is in their own backyard and yet they have never heard of it..  Our statistics are unbelievable considering we run on very limited funding that we fundraise ourself.  Do the readers/listeners a favor and give them a good story this fourth of July.  Letters from Home is here for them to make sure our troops know we haven't forgot them.  Our program ships out on July 12.  Info can be found by calling Christine Jovenitti, director at 814 335 5579 or attend one of our Tues night work parties from 6-9 pm or the letter stuffing party on July 12, with registration at 12:30p. All functions are at the Sacred Heart Activity Center on Center St in St Marys. People are surprised when they come and see what is going on in their own backyard.  Come be a part of it!!!
